STEP 1 — Log in & open the domain settings
-
Go to GoDaddy → My Products
-
Click Domains
-
Find the domain you want → click Manage / DNS / Domain Settings (any of those takes you to the same place)
STEP 2 — Go to “Nameservers”
Don’t mess with the DNS records tab — scroll down to the section called Nameservers
Click Change
STEP 3 — Select “Enter my own nameservers (advanced)”
GoDaddy will first try to push you to their default nameservers or GoDaddy hosting.
Ignore that. Choose:
“Enter my own nameservers (advanced)”
STEP 4 — Add your custom nameservers
ns1.mainehost.net
ns2.mainehost.net
ns3.mainehost.net
ns4.mainehost.net
STEP 5 — Confirm the warning popup
GoDaddy will show a scary warning like
“Are you sure? This will disconnect GoDaddy DNS.”
Yes. That’s exactly what you want. Confirm / Save / Yes, I understand.
STEP 6 — Done. Now wait.
Propagation can take up to 48 hours, but realistically you’ll see it update globally within 30–120 minutes. You can check at whoishosting.com if you want reassurance.
